Bogle Report

Hey everybody, Happy New Year to you all, the Bogle is back on deck revitalised and ready to go in 2012.

Let's start with last week's tournament and what an emotional rollercoaster it's been for Kyle Stanley the past fortnight on the PGA Tour. Firstly, he gives up a seven shot lead over the closing stages at the Farmers Insurance Open and then loses a playoff to Brandt Snedeker. Then on the weekend it was a complete role reversal for the 24 year old. Starting the final round 8 shots behind Spencer Levin at the Waste Management Phoenix Open he fires a closing 65 to take it out.

Boy, you got to take your hat off to Stanley though normally a player would be emotionally scarred for quite some time after a hard knock, but not him, he looks like he can dust things of pretty quickly. I guess time will tell if he's the real deal.

Over on the Asian Tour last week young Victorian Kieran Pratt had a finish to a tournament that you could only dream about. On the final day of the Myanmar Open the 23 year old eagled the 72nd hole to force a playoff with fellow countryman Adam Blyth and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat. Pratt then birdied the first and second holes of sudden death to claim his first Professional win. Pratt joins a couple of other Aussies that have earned their first wins up in Asia the past few years with Andrew Dodt winning the 2010 Avantha Masters and David Gleeson claiming his maiden win last year in India.

This week's events:

The ladies head to the Composite Course at Royal Melbourne for the first time to contest their Australian Open. The tournament is Co-sanctioned with LPGA Tour for the first time, so that means the best of the best join us this week. Six of the top 10 players in the world are here led by the World number 1 and current Australian Open Champion Yani Tseng. Our home grown talent will be headlined by 3 time Open winner Karrie Webb.

The European Tour remains in the Middle East for the third straight week this time for the Dubai Desert Classic. Headlining their field are the world number 2 and 3 players in Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood. Seven Aussies are in the field this week led by our highest ranked player in the Race to Dubai thus far this season Matthew Zions. Keep an eye out for Richard Green he has a good record around this layout having won over a decade ago.

The USPGA Tour moves this week to one of my favourite places on the planet, Carmel Bay in California for the AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The big news this week is the return to the PGA Tour for the first time in 2012 of Tiger Woods. It's been 10 years since Tiger teed it up at Pebble but I'm sure all the great memories will come flooding back. What can we expect from the former World Number 1? Well he's only played twice since December but his form has been pretty good. He won his own Chevron Challenge at the end of last year and 3 weeks ago led going into the final round in Abu Dhabi only to falter on Sunday and finish 3rd. It's not only about Pebble Beach this week but the rotation of Monterey Peninsula Country Club and one of the hardest courses I have ever played Spyglass Hill. So this week will test his new swing and confidence.

Great Golfing Everyone!
