Marcel Siem and Anthony Wall share early lead at Omega Dubai Desert Classic

Marcel Siem and Anthony Wall have made the early running at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club today (February 9), with both players at five under after 11 holes.

German Siem posted four birdies on the front nine for the perfect possible start, while Englishman Wall started on the back nine and posted consecutive birdies between the course's 18th and second holes.

Rafael Cabrera-Bello reached a share of third position after just five holes, racing to four under the card in a spectacular opening to the event.

The Spaniard was tied with Swede Johan Edfors, who has played 11 holes, while a host of players are just one shot further back.

Paul Lawrie of Scotland, who won the Qatar Masters last week, took his score to two under after seven holes having started at the tenth.

Brett Rumford was the best placed Australian early in proceedings, having played five holes in one under par.

Richard Green, Matthew Zions, Andrew Dodt and Marcus Fraser were yet to tee off.
