The Northern Trust PGA Tour title has been awarded to Bill Haas - but the win did not come easily. Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley challenged Haas for the Riviera championship, putting pressure on throughout the final round and keeping fans guessing until the very end. Haas was first to finish with seven under and a stroke ahead after 18 holes and could only wait to see if he was caught. Bradley and Mickelson both pulled off birdies on the final hole to tie Haas, forcing a playoff. All three golfers kept cool under the pressure, making pars at the 18th hole and forcing the shootout to continue at the tenth. The win came down to a 45-foot putt by the former FedEx champion and Haas would not be caught again. Mickelson missed his nine-foot bunker shot and Bradley narrowly missed his birdie attempt from the fringe. Australian Jarrod Lyle trailed just behind the top three, finishing at five under along with Sergio Garcia, Jimmy Walker and Dustin Johnson. Aaron Baddeley also performed well, placing just outside of the top ten at three under, with fellow Aussies Adam Scott and Marc Leishman not far behind at one under. |
