Queensland's Cory Crawford orchestrated an unforgettable redemption story, clinching the Vic PGA Championship at Moonah Links with a dramatic one-shot victory. Seven years after his first PGA Tour of Australasia win in Port Moresby, and following a grueling battle with a back fracture, Crawford emerged victorious at 14-under-par, securing his second career title.

The 32-year-old, who hails from Sanctuary Cove, delivered a masterful final-round 68 featuring seven birdies, punctuated by a nerve-steadying 12-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole. That clutch moment proved decisive as American Tyler McCumber faltered on the final green, missing a two-foot putt that could have forced a playoff.

“I’ve been through a lot. It’s been tough, but to be here now is really special,” said an emotional Crawford, reflecting on years of injury struggles that began with an undiagnosed T10 vertebra fracture. His perseverance was vindicated as he hoisted the Jack Harris Cup, presented by the late champion’s daughter, Marilyn Harris.

The final day was a rollercoaster as strong winds added to the challenge. Crawford’s brilliance shone through with pinpoint iron play, netting key birdies at the 8th, 9th, 12th, and 13th. A laser-guided approach on the 16th gave him the birdie that ultimately sealed the lead.

Meanwhile, McCumber, a veteran of 60 US PGA Tour starts, saw his hopes unravel with a bogey on 15, a near-miss birdie on 17, and the heartbreaking par on 18.

Anthony Quayle, another contender with a story of perseverance, fought valiantly despite a seven-stroke penalty in round one for a preferred lie violation. His closing 69 left him two shots back, securing solo third at 12-under.

Victorian Darcy Brereton carded the equal-low round of the day, a 4-under 68, finishing tied for fourth alongside Jason Hong and Braden Becker at 11-under. Overnight leader Jye Pickin fell to tied-eighth after a disappointing 75.
