DJ Reigns In The Desert
Dustin Johnson highlighted his dominance as world No. 1 after winning the European Tour’s Saudi International. The 36-year-old American proved too strong winning by two shots over a stellar field that included five of the top 10 players in the world.
Johnson continued his love affair for the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Saudi Arabia, having won the inaugural event in 2019 and finishing runner up 12 months ago. The current Masters champion carded 67, 64, 66 and 68 to reach 15-under.
Johnson held off challenges over the closing holes from a group of players that included fellow American Tony Finau, Frenchman Victor Perez and England’s Justin Rose.
Finau and Rose got to 13-under to share second place. Finau, who finished in a tie for second last week at the PGA Tour’s farmers Insurance Open, signed for a 3-under 67 in the final round. The 31-year-old owns 41 top 10 performances since 2017—the most by any player on tour around the world without a win. 40-year-old Rose fired a bogey-free 5-under 65 on Sunday in a display that suggests the 2013 US Open champion is enjoying a lift in form.
Scotland’s Calum Hill and Perez were a shot further back at 12-under and in a tie for fourth place.
