Gole Achieves State Title With Tour Edge
Drummond Golf Ambassador Nadene Gole ushered in the New Year in winning style claiming the Tasmanian Senior Amateur Championship by nine shots in a dominant wire-to-wire performance. The stunning victory by the 54-year-old plus marker from Victoria Golf Club celebrates success at her first start with her new agreeement to play Tour Edge golf clubs that includes C722 model woods and irons. Gole held the lead at the conclusion of each day firing steady rounds of 74, 73 and 73 in windy and wet conditions at Kingston Beach Golf Club, Hobart. A hole-out eagle from 64 meters at the par 5, 9th hole was a highlight of the final round. Sue Wooster, who is a prolific winner worldwide at Senior level, took out solo second place.
Fellow Victorian James Lavender ran away with the Men’s title winning by nine shots from New South Welshman Adam Cornell and another Victorian Stephen Valentine. Lavender, a member at Northern Golf Club, produced the round of the tournament with a 4-under 67 on the final day adding to earlier rounds of 74 and 73.
Gole now owns three Senior State titles after adding her latest win in Tasmania to victories in South Australia and Victoria during September last year. The impressive recent streak, which also includes runner up at the Australian Senior Amateur in October (to Wooster) and third place at the Asia Pacific Senior Amateur in Malaysia during November, marks a successfull return to tournament golf for Gole. The 1996 Danish Open champion and former European Tour and Japanese Tour member took a 20-year spell from competition golf in 2001 due to family and work commitments. Gole is relishing the opportunity to return to the fairways as a grey golfing nomad through the platform of Senior Golf, "I've loved the game of golf since becoming addicted in my early teens growing up in country Victoria [Traralgon]. It has afforded me the ability to travel and play many incredible golf courses as well as importantly meet so many amazing people. Joining the Senior Golf scene has also brought me back in touch with players I competed with and against at junior level. It really is a game for all ages. And, I'm excited to see where my latest golfing journey will take me!"
When the World Amateur Golf Rankings are updated this week, the Drummond Golf Ambassador is projected to vault inside the top five senior women golfers in the world.
