Hannah Green Enjoys Third LPGA Title After Playoff Win
Australia’s Hannah Green won the JM Eagle LA Championship in a three-player playoff. The 26-year-old from Perth defeated China’s Xiya Lin at the second extra hole after India’s Aditi Ashok was eliminated the first time the trio replayed the par 3, 18th hole.
Green, Lin and Ashok completed the 72 holes of regulation play at 9-under. All three players made a birdie at the final hole with Green pouring in her attempt from 25 feet to make the playoff. Green posted rounds of 68, 69, 69 and 69 at Wilshire Country Club. The former major winner holed a clutch par putt from five feet at the first extra hole to remain in the hunt with Lin. Upon replaying the hole, Green secured her third LPGA Tour title with a par to Lin’s bogey.
Green collects the first place prize check of US$450,000. It was her first LPGA Tour victory since securing the Portland Classic in 2019.
Green's win in California banks more LPGA Tour success by Australians this season with Sydney's Grace Kim victorious two weeks ago at the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii.
The LPGA Tour remains in California for next week’s Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown to be staged at TPC Harding Park.
