Raes & Benfield Deliver Wins At The Vines 

Catherine Raes and Andrew Benfield punched their ticket to the Drummond Golf Cup Final after winning the DGC Western Australia titles. Staged at The Vines outside Perth on Sunday October 22, the latest state champions have earned a spot at the Drummond Golf Cup National Final to be staged at Peninsula-Kingswood Golf Club on December 8.

Raes scored an emphatic victory in the women’s division. The 17-marker comfortably bested her daily handicap with 39 stableford points. Long-time event supporter Geraldine Taylor was runner up with 31 points.

Benfield won the men’s division with an outstanding 44 points. The Vines member with a 21 handicap overcame Mark Creaven, who scored an impressive 41 points. Qhaikal Era (40 points) and Chris Rawes (39 points) also produced results that beat their handicap.

Drummond Golf Ambassador Brett Ogle was on hand at the par 3, 4th hole to raise funds for Lifeline Australia. The event raised more than $1100. Jeffrey Zhang collected the $250 Drummond Gift Card on offer for the nearest-to-the-pin at the GFAC 4th hole. Other NTP's include Jonas Mattingly, PJ Kenny and Mick Woolams. Geraldine Taylor and Corey Bruce won the the longest drive contests.

The Drummond Golf Cup moves to Sydney on November 03 for the Drummond Golf Cup NSW Championship to be staged at Macquarie Links.
