Johnson Wins LIV Tulsa In A Playoff Over Smith & Grace
Dustin Johnson overcame Cam Smith and Branden Grace at the first playoff hole to win LIV Golf Tulsa. The 38-year-old American was the only player in the trio to convert his birdie attempt at the first extra hole. Johnson now boasts two LIV Golf titles after collecting LIV Boston in September last year. The former world No. 1 scored that victory in a playoff over Anirban Lahiri and Joaquin Niemann.
Johnson (67), Smith (61) and Grace (65) completed the 54 holes of regulation play at 17-under.
Staged at Cedar Ridge Country Club, Grace began the event with a record-breaking 9-under 61. The Stinger GC’s bogey-free opening round on Friday was the lowest score fired at a LIV Golf tournament. Grace won the second ever LIV Golf Tour title at LIV Portland in July last year.
Smith started the final round six shots behind overnight leader Johnson. The 29-year-old Queenslander matched Grace’s scoring record with a 9-under 61 on Sunday to reach the playoff. Smith was searching for his second LIV Golf title after claiming LIV Chicago in September last year.
Harold Varner III took solo fourth place at 13-under. The RangeGoats team member carded a 9-under 61 to match Smith and Grace for the lowest LIV Golf single round scoring record.
Stinger Golf Club won the Teams event carding 40-under. The four-player team from South Africa includes Louis Oosthuizen (Team Captain), Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel and Dean Burmester.
The LIV Golf Tour moves to Virginia for LIV Golf DC to be staged at Trump National Golf Club from May 26 - 28.
