Keegan Bradley Scores Sixth PGA Tour Title at the Travelers Championship
Keegan Bradley continues to enjoy a bounce-back PGA Tour season adding the Travelers Championship to his impressive resume of victories. The 37-year-old American returned to the winner’s circle in October last year at the ZOZO Championship after claiming just one victory during the previous ten years. Bradley now boasts two PGA Tour wins this season, one runner up at the Farmers Insurance Open and four additional top 10 performances. The 2011 PGA champion’s latest victory marks his sixth title on the PGA Tour.
Bradley, who was the PGA Tour Rookie of The Year in 2011, took a slender one-shot lead into Sunday after carding a 6-under 64 in the third round to move to 21-under and set the new 54-hole scoring record at the Travelers Championship. His title hopes were never really threatened during the final round after he added five birdies during his opening 12 holes to move well clear of the field. Holding a massive six-shot cushion into the final stretch, Bradley had the luxury of dropping three shots over the closing six holes and still manage a comfortable three-shot victory. Bradley posted a final round 2-under 68 to reach 23-under and break the four-round event record of 22-under set by Kenny Perry in 2009.
Americans Zac Blair and Brian Harman took a share of second place at 20-under. Blair fired a sizzling 8-under 62 on Sunday. Harman carded a 6-under 64.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler signed for a 5-under 65 and was one shot further back at 19-under and in a tie for fourth place. He was joined on that mark by Patrick Cantlay (67) and Chez Reavie (71).
Rory McIlroy (64) and Denny McCarthy (67) finished at 18-under and in a tie for seventh place. McIlroy made his first-ever hole-in-one on the PGA Tour during Thursday’s opening round. The Northern Irishman aced the 8th hole with his 5-iron from 215 yards.
Min Woo Lee enjoyed another outstanding week producing a final round 3-under 67 to get to 17-under and finish in a tie for 9th place. It was the Western Australian’s 11th start on the PGA Tour season. The 24-year-old has notched three top 10 results after runningT6 at THE PLAYERS Championship and T5 at last week’s US Open.
Jon Rahm carded rounds of 67-71 in the opening two rounds to miss the cut on the PGA Tour for the first time in nearly two years.
The PGA Tour moves to Michigan for next week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic to be staged at Detroit Golf Club. America’s Tony Finau is the defending champion.
