On Friday October 25, Sharon Milne and Ashley de Thierry took out their division of the 2024 Drummond Golf Cup Queensland Championship at the magnificent Nudgee Golf Club, Brisbane. The two Queenslanders will venture south to the outskirts of Melbourne in early December to compete at Peninsula-Kingswood Country Club at the Drummond Golf Cup National Final.

de Thierry, a 17-hanicapper from Helensvale Golf Club, overcame Adrian Watts in a countback to win the Men's Stableford competition with 40 points. Watts, who plays off 16 at Redcliffe Golf Club took out second place by three shots to Larry Johnston (37 points) and Morgan Thompson (37 points). Four players posted matched their handicap with 36 points: Andrew Lathouras, David Youels, Mathew Sharpe and Greg McIntosh.

The women's competition was won by Sharon Milne with 32 points. The Sandgate Golf Club member, who plays off a handicap of 15, outplayed runner up Leanda Whitton by four points.
