Presidents Cup Returns To Australia In 2028

Kingston Heath Golf Club will host the 2028 Presidents Cup. The PGA Tour and the Presidents Cup announced the world-acclaimed Sandbelt masterpiece in Victoria as the 2028 venue marking the fourth time to prestigious team’s event will be staged in Australia.

PGA Tour Senior Vice President of Championship Management, Matt Rapp, said…“On behalf of the PGA Tour, we are excited to bring the 2028 Presidents Cup to Kingston Heath Golf Club as we further cement the history and future of this event in the great city of Melbourne. The Sandbelt region is home to some of the game’s most iconic venues, and Kingston Heath has proven to be a world-class host for a number of golf’s biggest tournaments. We are looking forward to contesting an incredible Presidents Cup that Australians can take tremendous pride in, showcasing Kingston Heath to golf fans around the world.”

Kingston Heath joins Royal Melbourne (1998, 2011 & 2019) as the only golf clubs to host the Presidents Cup in Australia. The iconic Dan Soutar-designed layout with its Alister Mackenzie inspired bunkering becomes the fifth international golf club to host the Presidents Cup joining Royal Melbourne, The Links at Fancourt Hotel, South Africa, The Royal Montreal Golf Club, Canada, and Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

The top-ranked Australian golf club already boasts a proud history of hosting major events with Kingston Heath accommodating the Australian Open seven times, the Australian Masters in 2009 & 2012, the 2008 Women’s Australian Open and the 2016 World Cup of Golf.

The Presidents Cup will next be staged at Royal Montreal Golf Club during September 24-29, 2024. Future venues include; Medinah Country Club, USA in 2026, Kingston Heath Golf Club in 2028 and Bellerive Country Club, USA in 2030.

The last time the Presidents Cup was played was at Quail Hollow Club, USA in 2022 with the US Team winning 17.5 to 12.5. The US Team has won the last nine starts and owns 12 wins from the 14 contests with the International Team winning on one occasion (1998 at Royal Melbourne). There was one tied match at Fancourt Hotel in 2003.
