Rahm Scoops Massive Pay Day In His Debut LIV Golf Season
Jon Rahm's first season in the LIV Golf League was nothing short of electrifying. After joining the LIV Golf League in December 2023, Rahm's debut season quickly became one for the history books. Despite a setback in Houston, where he withdrew due to a foot infection, Rahmbo dazzled at nearly every event, consistently placing in the top 10. His crowning achievement came at LIV Golf Chicago, where a US$4 million victory sealed his spot as the season's individual champion, earning him an impressive US$18 million bonus prize.
Heading into the final tournament of the 2024 LIV Golf season, Rahm held a slim three-point lead over his closest rival, Joaquin Niemann. The two battled fiercely at Bolingbrook Golf Club, with Rahm carrying a narrow one-stroke lead into the final day. By the fourth and sixth holes, Rahm's birdies had extended his advantage to a comfortable margin, but the chase was far from over.
Niemann, along with Spanish legend Sergio Garcia and Rahm's Legion XIII teammate Tyrrell Hatton, mounted a strong pursuit. A birdie on the 13th gave Rahm some breathing room, but Niemann and Garcia closed the gap with birdies of their own. With just two holes left to play, Rahm found himself holding a slim two-shot lead.
As the tension built, Rahm stepped up to the par-3 17th and delivered the decisive moment—a perfectly executed birdie putt that pushed his lead to three shots. From there, it was smooth sailing as he cruised down the 18th, not only clinching the Chicago victory but also securing the coveted LIV Golf individual title in spectacular fashion.
Australia’s Cameron Smith finished the season in 7th place after scoring three runner up results.
