Robert MacIntyre Claims Maiden PGA TOUR Title At The Canadian Open

Robert MacIntyre notched his first PGA TOUR victory at the Canadian Open. The 27-year-old from Scotland was understandably emotional after holing out his final putt at the 72nd green for a narrow one-shot win. After all, MacIntyre recorded his milestone with his father, Dougie, on his bag. MacIntyre acknowledge it was his father who inspired his love for golf during an interview after the win.

MacIntyre fired all four rounds in the 60s with scores of 64, 66, 66 and 68 at Hamilton Country Club, Ontario for a 16-under total. The two-time European Tour winner surged to the four-shot 54-hole lead after closing out his third round with a remarkable birdie, birdie, birdie, eagle and par finish. The left-hander claimed his maiden PGA TOUR win at his 45th start. He becomes the first winner from Scotland on the PGA TOUR since Martin Laird at the 2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

America’s Ben Griffin took solo second place at 15-under. The 28-year-old was searching for his first PGA TOUR victory. Griffin closed with an impressive bogey-free 5-under 65.

France’s Victor Perez managed outright third place at 14-under. The 31-year-old carded a flawless 6-under 64 on Sunday.

Korea’s Tom Kim and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy shared fourth place at 13-under. Both players signed for final rounds of 6-under 64. McIlroy was looking for his third Canadian Open title after winning the event in 2019 and 2022.

Adam Scott was the only Australian to play over the weekend. The 43-year-old produced a 1-under 69 on Sunday to finish at 2-under and in a tie for 42nd place.

The PGA TOUR moves to Ohio for next week’s the Memorial Tournament to be staged at Jack’s Place—Muirfield Village Golf Club. Norway’s Viktor Holland is the defending champion.
