Stephanie Kyriacou Cracks a Big Win in Europe
Stephanie Kyriacou won the Big Green Egg in the Netherlands to seal her second Ladies European Tour title. It was her first win as a professional. The now 20-year-old, claimed her maiden win on tour at the Australian Ladies Classic Bonville in February 2020 when she was an amateur.
Kyriacou, born in Sydney, scored a two-shot victory after carding a stunning bogey-free final round 5-under 67. The flawless round followed three scores of 66, 72 and 65 to get to 18-under at Rosendaelsche Golf Club.
Kyriacou began the final round with a share of the lead with Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen. They were four shots ahead of their nearest rivals. The young Australian took command on the front nine with three birdies to go out in 33 shots to forge a two-shot lead over the Fin. Nuutinen, who leads the Race to Costa Del Sol, grabbed the lead by one-shot with three consecutive birdies at the 13th, 14th and 15th holes. Kyriacou hit back with a birdie at the 16th hole to tie for the lead. Kyriacou, who was the 2020 LET Rookie of the Year, claimed her two-shot margin at the 17th hole with a birdie at the par 5, while Nuutinen made a bogey.
Kyriacou moves to second on the Race to Coast Del Sol after six tournaments completed on the Ladies European Tour. She has finished no worse than 25th this season from her five starts.
Nuutinen closed with a 3-under 69 to get to 16-under and in outright second place. The 29-year-old boasts five top 10s from her six starts this season.
Scotland’s Kylie Henry finished eight shots off the lead in outright third place at 10-under.
