Spider GTx & GT Max Putters
TaylorMade introduces Spider GTx and GT Max—the smart-looking putters are the latest additions of the iconic Spider design.
GTx maintains a similar shape to that of previous Spider models. The modern design features a back weight stability bar for greater forgiveness. Constructed from heavy stainless steel, the back weight ring of 154 grams produces a deeper center of gravity. This location creates more stability and less face rotation to allow players to roll the ball more accurately down their chosen line. GTx is made from lightweight 6061 Aluminum. The 194-gram top allowed engineers to push more mass to the outside of the frame for greater forgiveness.
GT Max maintains some of the features of the tour-inspired Spider design, while adding a new element of adjustability to optimise performance. The reconstructed shaping features a weight track on the heel and toe sides of the sole that allows two heavy 40-gram tungsten weights to slide into different performance settings. Position 1 delivers the deepest center of gravity and high stability with less face rotation. Position 2 performs minimal face rotation and increased toe hang. Position 3 has the most face rotation and increased toe hang.
Both models boast TaylorMade’s Pure Roll 2 Insert for the ultimate performance off the face. The firmer, co-moulded insert of black urethane contains silver aluminum beams at a 45 degrees angle. This advanced design improves top spin across the face helping the ball to get rolling along the chosen path. GTx and GT Max use the brand’s ever-popular True Path Alignment system to enable golfers to set up with the correct putter head position. The clever alignment design features a prominent white space in the center of the putter to assist golfers frame the ball.
