2021 Valspar Championship

Sam Burns captured his first PGA Tour win at the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort, Florida.

The 24-year-old American poured in 21 birdies and two eagles over the four rounds en route to reaching 17-under at the notorious Copperhead Course. His winning score was just one shot off the tournament record set by Vijay Singh in 2004.

Burns joined the Callaway Staff team when he turned professional back in 2017. The Louisiana native used a Callaway Mavrik driver to sit inside the Top 20 in the field for driving distance. He was ranked 5th Strokes Gained Tee to Green. And, he was placed 3rd in the field for Strokes Gained Putting.

The former Korn Ferry Tour player is gaining a reputation for making a fast start this season. This week he fired opening rounds of 67 and 63 to share the lead with Keegan Bradley. It marked the fifth time he has been in the top five at the halfway point this season—the most on Tour. And, he maintained his share of the lead with Bradley after the third round to mark the third time in 2020-21 that he held a 54-hole lead/ co-lead. He shares this statistic with Jordan Spieth for most on Tour.

With his win, Burns jumped to 14th in the FedExCup standings.
