Hannah Green Produces Late Charge to Claim HSBC Women’s World Championship

In a breathtaking display of skill and determination, Australia's golf sensation, Hannah Green, triumphantly returned to the winner's circle of the LPGA Tour, claiming the prestigious HSBC Women's World Championship by a razor-thin one-stroke victory over the formidable Celine Boutier from France. Green clinched the title after draining a 30-foot birdie putt at the final green

At the Sentosa Golf Club, Green, aged 27, showcased her brilliance with a mesmerising final round of 5-under 67 to reach 13-under. It was the Western Australian’s fourth career win on the LPGA Tour. She now boasts 11 worldwide victories under her belt.

Entering Sunday's showdown, Green, ranked 29th globally, displayed unwavering resolve by securing two unanswered birdies on the front nine. A bogey on the 10th, briefly threatening her aspirations. However, Green demonstrated her mettle by bouncing back with a crucial birdie at the 12th hole.

The climax unfolded on the final stretch, as Green unleashed a spectacular birdie barrage at the 16th, 17th, and 18th holes. With nerves of steel, she sealed her victory with this thrilling trilogy of birdies, culminating in a masterful display that left the crowd in awe.

Despite Green's heroics, Boutier, put up a formidable fight carding a flawless 5-under 67 final round. Boutier, ranked No. 3 in the world,  took the outright lead standing on the 17th tee, eyeing her 7th career LPGA Tour win. However, fate had a different plan, as she fell just short of Green's total, settling for a solo second place at 12-under in what was a nail-biting finish.

Adding to the drama was Japan's Yuna Nishimura, who delivered a sensational bogey-free 6-under 66 on Sunday. Her stellar performance propelled her to 9-under, securing a share of third place alongside compatriot Nasa Hataoka, Canada's Brooke Henderson, and Korea's Mi Hyang Lee.

The LPGA Tour moves to China for the Blue Bay LPGA at Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Club. Mexico’s Gaby Lopez is the defending champion.
